Tristan Brain
Exhibition 12th- 15th November, 10am- 4pm
Tristan Brain was a Bristol based artist. He graduated with a BA in Fine Art from Exeter College of Art and Design. Nature and the female form inspired his work, particularly the beauty of trees and the countryside. He worked mainly in oils and acrylics, later using pastels for his abstract pieces. He loved experimenting with colour. Painting was a huge part of his life. Tristan sadly passed away on New Year’s Eve 2024 aged 59 following a short battle with cancer. His family organised this exhibition in celebration of his work. Proceeds from all paintings will go to his favourite charity to help save the rhino through the World Wildlife Fund.
Exhibition 1st -5th December
Working at a single focal length challenges the photographer to consider the relationship between foreground and background, and encourages a deeper awareness of how distance, framing and movement shape visual meaning.
For this exhibition, six photographers from a range of genres were invited to produce a series of images at their chosen focal length, using a fast-aperture prime lens from the Sigma Art range, spanning 14mm up to 85mm.
The result is six distinct bodies of work that reveal not only the character of each lens, but the personal way each photographer has chosen to see through it.

Patchwork Project 26
Patchwork Project 26 invites the people of Bath to come together to create a community quilt reflecting life in the city today. Through free, artist-led workshops, participants will design their own fabric square, contributing words, ideas and memories to a shared artwork. Inspired by themes of connection, belonging and community, the finished quilt will act as a time capsule shaped by the voices of Bath residents.

Demi Spriggs practice is focused on using art-research to build interactive sensory experiences via sound, performance, and performance that incorporates other living things. A specific focus on sound making and archiving as heritage production with an interest in new materialist discourses and transmateriality.
Workshops and Classes
Learn a new skill, make friends, and have fun with one of our many weekly classes at BAS. We offer a range of creative courses, from weekly classes to one-off workshops. There are sessions for both adults and children, including after-school classes and holiday activities. Our courses are led by artists based at the studios as well as talented local artists from the wider community.
