Save the Studios!
Help secure a future for Bath’s largest creative community.
For nearly 30 years, Bath Artists’ Studios has been a vital part of the city’s cultural landscape. As the largest studio complex in Bath and North East Somerset, we provide affordable workspaces for over 50 artists, a popular public gallery, and a year-round programme of workshops, classes and community outreach.
From first-time young artists to lifelong learners, we believe everyone should have the chance to make, explore, and enjoy art. Our spaces are open to all fostering creativity, confidence, and connection across all ages.
This belief is at the heart of Arts Council England’s Let’s Create strategy, which states that everyone in the country, no matter what their background, should have access to the very best of creativity and culture in the places where they live and work. We couldn't agree more but now, our future is under threat.
What’s Happening?
Our current lease ends in early 2027. If we are unable to secure a new home, Bath risks losing one of its most successful and accessible creative resources.
With suitable buildings disappearing fast, the pressure is on. Artists are being priced out, and cultural spaces are being lost yet creative communities like ours are essential. Bath doesn’t just need housing; it needs places where people can make, learn, connect, and grow.
Why Bath Needs BAS
54 studios supporting over 60 artists at all career stages.
Affordable workspace in a city where it’s increasingly hard to find.
Gallery exhibitions, art trails, and open studios open to all.
Workshops and educational programmes for schools, families, and community groups.
A proven track record of outreach and inclusion across all age groups.
BAS is more than a building. It’s a community, a launchpad, a place of belonging and inspiration. And we’re asking for your help to keep it alive.
